What is a "Free Culture Licence" (CC BY-SA 4.0)?

Material which is made available under the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence can be used as follows:

  • Sharing – reproduce and re-distribute the material in any format or medium
  • Editing – remix, modify and build on the material for any purpose – including commercial ones. Why are the Free Culture Licence curricula freely available to everyone?

The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms for as long as the licensees comply with the following licence conditions:

  • Attribution – You must provide appropriate details of copyrights and other rights, include a link to the licence and indicate whether any changes have been made. This information may be provided in any reasonable manner, but not in such a way that it creates the impression that the licensor is specifically supporting you or your use of the product.
  • Distribution on equal terms — If you remix, modify or otherwise directly build on the material, you may distribute your contributions only under the same licence as the original.
  • No other restrictions – You may not use any additional clauses or technical procedures that legally prohibit others from doing anything that the licence permits.

Why are the Free Culture Licence curricula freely available to everyone?

On the one hand because we are of the opinion that this knowledge represents an important contribution to modern and forward-looking IT. On the other hand because we believe that sharing will result in benefits for everyone - in whatever form.

Does one have to be accredited in any way in order to be able to offer one's own courses on the basis of the itedas curricula?

No. However, interested trainers can have themselves listed on our site, provided that they acknowledge our values manifesto.

How does itedas ensure quality?

There are several aspects that have to be borne in mind with respect to quality:

  • Quality assurance of the syllabi (curricula): the creation of curricula is managed by a Domain Steering Committee (DSC). Each DSC consists of approximately 3-9 technical experts in the respective knowledge domain. The task of the DSCs is to ensure that the curricula are up-to-date and practice-oriented.
  • Quality assurance of the training courses: The quality assurance of the training courses is carried out by the trainer on the basis of the feedback from the participants. After the client has become personally acquainted with the trainers, it is ensured that the client knows what they are getting. Trainers who perform poorly will very soon not receive any further orders and/or poor evaluations.
  • Quality assurance of the performance of the examination: All certification examinations are performed by certible. Certible is an independent certification institute based in the heart of Vienna that conducts certification examinations worldwide. Certible's main field of activity is the certification of individuals in various specialist areas of the IT sector. The service offered by certible comprises the entire examination process.

Why do some trainers have a quality rating and others don't?

itedas recommends that all technical experts who work as trainers should have themselves evaluated by the participants via an evaluation portal in order that they can position themselves better.

Technical experts who tend to look after an unchanging clientele can usually do without this.

On the other hand, technical experts who address a larger target group usually make use of the advantages of an evaluation portal.

Is it possible to provide evidence of the acquired knowledge with an official certificate?

Yes, itedas cooperates worldwide with the independent certification institute Certible for this purpose.

How long is a certificate valid?

The certificates have no expiry date and are therefore valid for life.

Why isn't re-certification necessary?

In a certification seminar you will learn fundamental information about a topic. Whether and to what extent these principles can be applied in any situation always has to be decided on a case-by-case basis in daily practice.

And every effort is made to incorporate practical case studies in the seminars. These consist to a large extent of theoretical knowledge, which you acquire. The situation is similar to the driving test. You only get practical experience with practice and not by repeating the driving test.

This is the reason why our certificates do not lose their validity.

Do older certificates have the same significance as new ones?

That really depends.

If you are at the beginning of or changing your career, a newly acquired certificate is proof that you have dealt with a topic seriously and helps you to open doors.

If you have not dealt with a topic in your professional everyday life for a long time, an older certificate will help you to prove that you have a broad knowledge base. However, it will not help you to take up a position as a technical expert in this field.

How can I be listed as a trainer on the itedas page?

Simply send us an email with your consent confirming that you are committed to our values manifesto with the following data for publication:

  • Salutation
  • First Name
  • Second Name
  • Email address for contact purposes
  • Postcode/ZIP, City ands country
  • itedas seminars and certifications offered

How can I have our company listed on the itedas page?

I'm afraid you can't. Not even for a fee.

With our site we specifically want to give individual trainers the opportunity to offer their services. The reason for this is the fact that the quality of a training course depends exclusively on the personality and the ability of the trainer - no matter which "logo" he or she works under.

How can I contribute my own ideas for curricula?

Please send us an email and let us talk about it: Email to itedas

What is a Domain Steering Committee (DSC)?

A DSC controls its knowledge domain.

A DSC consists of approximately 3-9 technical experts of the respective knowledge domain and is responsible for ensuring that curricula exist and are kept up to date in terms of knowledge.

How and where can I take a certification exam?

There are several ways to take the certification exam:

  • Following a training:

    • The trainer usually offers the participants the opportunity to take the certification exam immediately after the training. In this case, the trainer has the necessary documents and you do not have to do anything.
    • If for one reason you cannot or do not want to take the certification exam, you can take the exam later. See: "After self-study".

  • After completing a self-study: Simply register with Certible for an exam. Exams can be taken either in a Prometric Exam Center or on one of the dates offered.
